According to sources, Barcelona is planning a loan move for Lionel Messi, the star of Inter Miami, as they look to have “one last dance” with the Argentina player.
When the Barcelona star puts up his boots, he will be remembered as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, football players in history.
Messi has won every award in football, including eight Ballon d’Ors, and has scored 759 goals in 941 club matches and 112 goals in 191 Argentina caps.
Messi won four Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, seven Copa del Reys, seven Spanish Super Cups, and ten La Liga crowns while playing for Barcelona.
Furthermore, according to Spanish rumors, Messi “returns” to Barcelona with Joan Laporta, the president of the Catalan club, in order to pursue a loan transfer from Inter Miami.
A transfer would provide Barcelona “an absolutely massive media impact” and enable Messi to “get the farewell he deserves” at the new Spotify Camp Nou.
Messi wants to go back to his best for the World Cup, which would be “much easier to do if he were competing in Europe and playing at Camp Nou.” David Beckham, the owner of Inter Miami, is said to have “firmly ruled out this option, but it could be strongly considered again in 2026.”
Messi “would return to have one last dance, and continue expanding his list of achievements” after being unable to bid farewell to Barcelona supporters during the pandemic.
Although the story raises the prospect of a return to Barcelona, it says it’s “hard to believe Beckham would give him permission to join Barca temporarily.”
